Today’s slipper-type designs are fabricated from silicone simulating human subcutaneous tissue much more accurately than plastics or rubberized epoxy. This is important because of the tremendous pressure that is applied to the ball of the partial-foot when the patient walks. The silicone both cushions the weight load deflecting pressure from the metatarsal bones. Hip disarticulation and hemipelvectomy amputation are relatively rare and invasive procedures. Transpelvic amputations are associated with extensive morbidity and mortality, both at the time of surgery and immediately thereafter. Beyond survival, success for these patients is measured in quality of life, including level of mobility, and functional independence. RCR Socket Technology
TheRange of motion, Comfort, & Rotational control Transtibial Socket commonly known as RCR socket was designed by Dale Perkins CPO, as the answer to those patients that develop discomfort when using gel liners and locks. Dale Perkins CPO being his self as an amputee, he uses his knowledge as Prosthetist-Orthotist to design the RCR.
